Description

The Center for AI in Child Health is one of the first dedicated translational AI centers focused on improving child health outcomes by bridging advanced AI innovations and real-world pediatric practice. By conducting prospective trials to rigorously evaluate AI-driven models and integrating these solutions into clinical workflows, the Center ensures that cutting-edge research truly benefits patients. Housed within the Windreich Department of Artificial Intelligence and Human Health and the Mindich Child Health and Development Institute, the Center supports entrepreneurial ventures and fosters opportunities for novel AI-driven therapies and technologies to spin out into real-world applications. 

To accomplish this, the Center will:

  • Establish an Integrated, Dedicated AI Data Hub for Pediatrics 
  • Spearhead Prospective, Multimodal AI Clinical Trials in Pediatrics 
  • Integrate Multi-Omics to Enable Pediatric Personalized Medicine 
  • Enhance Health Economics and System Performance 

Through these initiatives, the Center aims to advance pediatric personalized medicine, promote quality improvement, and build an ecosystem of innovation that can accelerate the path from scientific discovery to patient care. 



Responsibilities

The Director of Operations will report directly to the Center’s leadership. They will partner with faculty, staff, and institutional stakeholders to drive the Center’s strategic goals, oversee fundraising and partnership initiatives, lead critical administrative functions, and support research endeavors. This role requires a dynamic professional skilled in both high-level strategic thinking and detail-oriented project execution. 

  • Strategic & Administrative Leadership: Oversee resource allocation, policy administration, and program development to support the Center’s short- and long-term goals. 
  • Fundraising & Partnerships: Coordinate philanthropic activities, industry collaborations, grant submissions, and potential venture capital engagements to secure sustainable funding. 
  • Research Support: Facilitate and support research initiatives within the Center 
  • Operations & Team Management: Help recruit, develop, and supervise staff, and run the Center’s operations. 


Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree required, Masters degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience in health care finance or administration; experience in strategic planning and execution, formulating policy, building and developing financial plans, managing resources and leading successful teams
  • Oversight of large multifaceted research programs, including prospective clinical trials
  • Manage budget and financial decisions for Center initiatives
  • High-level understanding of regulatory frameworks for software as a medical device (SaMD)
  • Management of direct reports 
  • Active engagement with industry partners 
  • Development of standardized processes and procedures, specifically within a large academic health system
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution, formulating policy, building and developing financial plans, managing resources and leading successful teams 
  • Significant expertise in project planning, execution, and oversight of large clinical research programs 
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills Analytical and problem-solving skills Managerial skills including budgeting and finance
