Job Purpose or Goals:  The Director of Artificial Intelligence is responsible for helping define and execute the organization's AI strategy across the enterprise, ensuring that all initiatives align with long‑term business goals. This role leads or consults with teams across AI/ML engineering, data science, MLOps, and AI governance to build scalable, compliant, and high‑value AI solutions.

Tasks:

1. Assist with and foster the enterprise AI vision, roadmap, and strategy by defining long-term AI priorities, establishing technology standards, and ensuring initiatives align with organizational goals for scalable, high-value AI adoption. 

2. Engage high-value AI use cases align to organizational priorities by evaluating business needs, assessing technical feasibility, and engaging on opportunities that offer measurable ROI and strategic impact across departments as mandated by the business. 

3. Manage activities with cross-functional AI teams including AI/ML engineering, data science, MLOps, and governance. 

4. Work with the business to build and implement AI governance, risk, and compliance frameworks to ensure ethical, responsible, and compliant use of AI. 

5. Assist with managing vendor relationships and contract negotiation to optimize cost, performance, and long-term value. 

6. Manage budget, planning, and prioritization by allocating resources, forecasting expenditures, and structuring the AI portfolio to support strategic decision making and operational demands. 

7. Partner with executive leaders to scale AI responsibly by communicating strategic recommendations and aligning AI initiatives with enterprise-level decision making. 

8. Report progress and ROI to senior IT leaders and others as directed. 

9. Drive enterprise AI adoption and workforce enablement by promoting AI literacy and ensuring teams across the organization are equipped to use AI tools effectively and responsibly. 

10. Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or 6 years relevant experience 

2+ years in AI/ML, data science, or digital transformation

6+ years leading technical teams 

Experience deploying AI systems at scale 

Strong knowledge of AI governance and compliance 

Excellent communication skills 

Works exceptionally well with others, actively listens 

Able to delegate tasks effectively, as well as, motivate team members, peers, and leaders
